Ultrasound is probably one of the most underrated inventions in medicine. No ionizing radiation, no huge scanner, and in many cases no complicated preparation. Just sound waves and their echoes creating an image of what is happening inside the body. What I love most is how far this technology has come. Some of the earliest ultrasound machines were huge, and patients were literally placed into water-filled tanks. Today, an ultrasound device can be small enough to carry around and use almost anywhere. It’s fast, relatively inexpensive and can be repeated when needed. Doctors use it to look at the heart, organs, blood flow, muscles and much more - sometimes getting important information within minutes. It’s hard to count how many lives this technology has helped save. And all of this comes from something surprisingly simple: sending sound into the body and listening to what comes back. #Ultrasound #Medicine #edit#Technology #Imaging
