Egypt is one of those countries where planning the route properly can save you entire days of travelling. Here’s a practical way to connect the highlights: 🇪🇬 CAIRO — 3 nights Start with the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum and Historic Cairo. Cairo → Luxor: Fly for the quickest journey, or take the overnight sleeper train and travel while you sleep. 🇪🇬 LUXOR — 2–3 nights Explore Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the West Bank. Luxor → Aswan: Instead of treating this purely as a transfer, consider a 3–4 night Nile cruise. You sleep onboard and stop along the route at places such as Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo before reaching Aswan. 🇪🇬 ASWAN — 2–3 nights Visit Philae Temple, explore the Nile by felucca and experience Nubian culture. Aswan → Abu Simbel: Around 3–3.5 hours each way by road, so expect an early start. Alternatively, fly from Aswan in around 45 minutes. 🇪🇬 RED SEA — 3–5 nights Finish with a few slower days around Hurghada, El Gouna or Marsa Alam for beaches, snorkelling and diving. Egypt isn’t difficult to travel — but the distances matter. Build the trip around the transport, not just the places you want to tick off.
