#botulism #infantbotulism #botulismo How can you go from having a healthy baby one day to seeing him completely paralysed the next… and then spend weeks watching him like that, without a clear diagnosis? Those were weeks filled with so much uncertainty, anguish, and the deepest pain a mother could ever experience. The doctors told us that the good news was that Raphi would make a 100% recovery, but the bad news was that we could be in hospital for up to a year. Without a doubt, holding on to my faith in God, trusting the doctors, and leaning on my family were what kept me strong for my Raphi. We spent almost two and a half months in the ICU, where he underwent every possible test, a tracheostomy, and everything else this kind of recovery entails. We went through three different hospitals and an experience we never could have imagined. Raphael was in the hands of some of the best doctors and healthcare professionals in Australia. Every single person who cared for him throughout this journey made his recovery easier to bear and, in their own way, helped it happen a little faster. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, music therapists, play therapists, and every specialist who cared for our baby with so much love and dedication. Raphael means “God has healed,” and I have never felt the meaning of his name as deeply as I do now. My strong, resilient, and happiest little boy. ❤️ Thank you for teaching us so much, for fighting every single day, and for getting through such a serious illness with a strength that only you could have. How lucky we are to have you back home, healthy and smiling, just like before. ❤️
