This is for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES!!!! If you’re not familiar with my content then I suggest you go watch some of my public access videos otherwise you’ll miss context. In essence I wanted to make a video where I let my dog show his temperament if I didn’t turn it off. In other words I’m going to show you the exact opposite of what you’re used to seeing. So often people assume that my dog has no drive or that he’s just an extremely mellow dog but that’s false, he’s still your typical 2 year old malinois. The difference is that I’m able to communicate my expectations very clearly to him. To me a balanced dog makes for the best service dogs because they have all the advantages that come with drive but are capable of turning it on or off when needed. Let’s be clear, this behavior is unacceptable which is why you never see it in my dog. I could never live my day to day like this let alone expect him to work for me at this level, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not there, it just means that I was able to teach him different gears which to me is incredibly useful. So the next time you want to write off a dog for having too much drive or for simply being “too much” try and figure out how you can harness that drive and make him a better dog for it!
