Note on safety: I’m sharing my unsettling experience with a stalker, I want to acknowledge that stalking is a systemic and far more dangerous issue for women in Japan. I got probably 100 separate comments from women sharing their stories on various other videos. Women face significant hurdles when seeking police assistance, the most horrifying of which is not being believed or taken seriously. While this is a scary experience, the physical threat for a man is just different, as is the chance of s***al violence. This is the unfiltered truth about my stalking experience while living in Osaka, Japan. I was a 21-year-old student on a homestay program when I realized my privacy wasn't just being invaded, but that I was being watched. She moved items in my first-floor bedroom and accidentally outed herself in the university cafeteria. I was gaslit by our friend group for months until she and her friend set up an ambush for me.
